In the reverse fixture of their previous game the TKR Women clashed against GAW Women in an all-important game at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. This marked to be an extremely crucial game for the Knight Riders as they aimed to pick up their first win of the tournament and bounce back strongly. With eyes set on a comeback, TKR Women looked forward to delivering an all-round performance and put their best foot forward.
After being put into bat first yet again, the TKR openers started off the innings in an aggressive fashion. Skipper Deandra Dottin batted with a lot of intent and played some stunning shots while young Harshitha Samarawickrama played second fiddle. Both openers stitched an excellent partnership of 66 runs to provide the innings a perfect base for a big score. TKR Women looked to capitalize on the start they got and aimed to get a big score. However, a collapse in the middle order put them on the back foot and halted the run-scoring. In the lower middle order, it was Kycia Knight and Shikha Pandey who stabilized the innings and stitched an important partnership to help TKR reach to a competitive score of 128. It was all upon the bowling group now to defend this total and help TKR women clinch the victory.
TKR Women were put into bat first in the super over as the pair Dottin & Jemimah walked in. The super over started in the most outstanding fashion for the TKR women as Skipper Dottin smashed a six on the first ball itself. The third ball of the super over saw the same fate as Deandra smashed another six. The final ball of the super over also disappeared to the boundary as TKR Women finished on 19 for no loss. Jess Jonassen was entrusted with the responsibility of defending the total. TKR women got the breakthrough on the first ball itself via a runout. Jess picked up another wicket on the third ball to break the back of the GAW run-chase, as TKR clinched victory in the super over. An incredible game of cricket took place in Tarouba which had it all the thrills as TKR women picked up their first win and stayed alive in the tournament.
