After being put into bat first, the TKR women aimed to start strong and exploit the power play advantage. Skipper Dottin started with an aggressive approach as she smashed a resounding six in the first over itself. However, TKR lost their skipper just a few balls after that. The BR Women kept putting pressure on the TKR batters while they lost wickets at consistent intervals. Jannillea Glasgow who was promoted at the top of the order showed some fight alongside Shikha Pandey and both started the work of stabilizing the innings. Their partnership of 43 helped TKR get back into the game and look at setting a competitive total. However, the innings saw another collapse as Shikha and Glasgow both were dismissed in quick succession. TKR women fought hard all through the innings but only managed to reach a target of 93. The onus was now on the bowlers to help TKR Women defend the small total and clinch the trophy.

In the defense of the total, the TKR Women took the field with a positive mindset and a lot of intensity. The bowlers aimed to pick up early wickets and make every run tough for BR W. Despite bowling tight lengths, BR Women had a strong opening partnership. However, TKR didn’t stop fighting and finally achieved the breakthrough as youngster Samara picked up the crucial wicket of Hayley Matthews. Soon after this wicket, TKR got a couple of more wickets as a possibility of a comeback sprung in everyone’s minds. BR kept losing wickets as Anisa Mohammed & Jess Jonassen also joined the party. At one point, BR W were reduced to 87/6 as we approached a thriller of a contest. However, Chamari Athapaththu stayed there till the end to seal the win for the Barbados Royals. TKR Women kept fighting right till the end yet victory evaded them. Although they didn’t end up on the winning side, TKR would be mighty proud of their performance in this season and their fighting spirit which helped them reach the finale after a roller coaster ride in the league stages. TKR Women would be proud of their efforts and will have all the rights to hold their heads high after the performance they’ve shown all season long.
