TKR Women were put into bat first yet again on a pitch which seemed to be slightly tacky to bat first. Skipper Deandra Dottin promoted herself to open the batting alongside the highly talented Harshitha Samarawickrama. Both stitched together an excellent partnership and created a base for a big score. Harshitha looked confident and classy all throughout her innings, while the skipper continued to compliment her with top notch strike rotation. After their partnership, the pair of Jemimah Rodrigues and Jess Jonassen forged another great partnership and scored at a quick rate. Their contributions steered TKR to the highest 1st innings total of the season so far. With a strong total of 130 on board, the onus was now upon the bowlers to deliver a strong performance and defend the total.

While defending the total, TKR aimed for early breakthroughs to put the GAW W batters under pressure. They set out on an attacking plan and Jess Jonassen delivered a wicket in the very first over. Quickly after that, Shikha Pandey came to the party and picked up the crucial wicket of Stefanie Taylor as GAW W were rocked early and reduced to 15/2. TKR women looked to keep the pressure on and pick up wickets at consecutive intervals to stay ahead in the game. However, the pair of GAW W captain Lauren Winfield-Hill and Erin Burns forged an outstanding partnership. Despite the best efforts of the TKR bowlers, both the set batters took GAW to victory on the back of a terrific knock of Burns and great support from Winfield-Hill. TKR Women tried their level best to stay in the make and made the batters sweat for every run. They will be looking to pick out the positives from this game and bounce back in their next game.
