With Nicholas Pooran stepping in as the new skipper and DJ Bravo as new head coach, TKR enter this tournament eyeing their fifth title. Backed by a mix of seasoned campaigners and rising stars, and holding a dominant record over SKNP, the Knight Riders were determined to start with a bang. Even away from home, the loyal fans roared in support, bringing the carnival vibe to Warner Park.

Put into bat first, TKR’s openers Colin Munro and Alex Hales wasted no time in stamping their authority. The pair stitched together a rollicking 114-run stand, setting the tone for a massive total. Munro, in particular, was ruthless, dispatching the ball to all corners with his trademark aggression en route to a scintillating century. Hales played the perfect foil, peppering the boundary boards with crisp stroke-making. Riding on Munro’s brilliance and useful contributions down the order, the Knight Riders powered their way to a mammoth 231. The stage was set, and it was over to the bowlers to seal the deal.

Chasing 232, the Patriots came out with intent. Kyle Mayers and Andre Fletcher gave the hosts a flying start, taking the attack to the TKR bowlers and keeping the pressure on. For a while, the chase looked well within reach. But the game turned when mystery spinner Usman Tariq stepped up, breaking the dangerous stand and striking at key moments. With wickets tumbling, the required rate soared. Narine, Akeal Hosein, and Tariq weaved a web of spin that choked the Patriots’ momentum. Despite a valiant effort, SKNP eventually fell short, handing TKR a 12-run victory in a thrilling finish.With momentum now on their side, TKR will look to build on this performance as they chase glory in CPL 2025.
