The Knights faced off against the Barbados Royals in their second game at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. In their first battle this season, TKR dominated the Royals and won the game by a huge margin. The Knights were eager to make a strong comeback after the last game’s defeat and they managed to do exactly that.
After being put in to bat first, the Knights lost an early wicket on a tacky pitch. However the Guptill and Pooran duo stabilized the innings. Just when the innings looked to pick up pace, TKR lost 3 quick wickets and the momentum shifted away from the Knights. But Pooran had other plans as the Queen’s Park Oval witnessed a Nicky P special. Pooran batted through the innings to smash an outrageous century. A staggering knock of 102 not out came off just 53 balls, in which Nicky hit a whopping 10 sixes. Pooran along with Russell stitched a dominant partnership to steer TKR to a commanding total of 208.
In the defense, the TKR bowlers were on their mark and they didn’t allow the Royals batters to get off to a flying start. Akeal Hosein landed the early blow and from there the Royals continued to loose wickets in constant intervals. Kyle Mayers proved to be the lone warrior but once he was gone the momentum completely shifted towards the Knights. The spin-duo of Akeal and Waqar ran through the middle order while all the bowlers contributed with wickets. TKR comfortably defended the target and won by 42 runs and clinched their second win over the Barbados Royals for this season. The Knights now move up to 2nd on the points table and will be gunning to continue the winning momentum in the next games.
