Skipper Deandra Dottin won the toss and chose to field first on a pitch which looked good to bat second. TKR women set the stage ablaze right from the outset as Shikha Pandey picked up the huge wicket of Hayley Matthews in the first over itself. TKR looked to keep putting pressure on the BR batters and that’s exactly what Shamilia Connell did. Playing her first game of the season, Connell picked up two crucial wickets in her first over to put TKR in the ascendancy. The bowlers kept on bowling tight lines and didn’t allow the BR batters to get away. However, Chamari Athapaththu’s innings helped the BR Women to reach the target of 130. It was over to the batters now to chase the total and book TKR’s place in finale.

In the run-chase, the TKR women aimed to start off in an aggressive manner and make the most of the powerplay. Skipper Deandra Dottin started off strongly in the first over and looked to continue from there. However, TKR lost quick wickets and were put on the backfoot. Jemimah Rodrigues and Jess Jonassen began to stabilize the innings and formed a partnership however an unfortunate run out meant Jess had to go back to the pavilion. Despite wickets falling around her, Jemimah stood tall and kept the scoreboard ticking. Jemimah’s masterclass of batting on slowish surfaces along with contributions from other batters helped TKR take the chase deep into the last over. With 5 runs left to get, Jemimah finished it off in style and took TKR Women to their 2nd WCPL Final. TKR Women now find themselves one step closer to clinching their 2nd WCPL title. All to play for in the finale!
