The Knights took on the Jamaica Tallawahs at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. This was the second time the two sides were facing off against each other this season. Last time around TKR clinched a close victory in a last-ball thriller against JT. This time around the Knights were able to establish their dominance and clinch victory in style.
The Knights won the toss and chose to bowl first on a pitch which had some assistance for the bowlers. The TKR bowlers have been consistently accurate throughout the season and this game was no exception. They kept bowling their lines and executing their plans to keep a stranglehold over the opposition batters. The spin trio of Narine, Akeal and Carmicheal picked up 4 wickets amongst themselves and stemmed the flow of runs in the middle overs. Ali Khan continued his impressive bowling form as he picked 3 wickets and JT were restricted to a total of 154.
The chase began with an interesting ploy by the Knights, as they sent Sunil Narine to open the innings and attack as he always has done. Sunny did not disappoint as he smashed a quick-fire 15 of just 6 balls to give the chase the perfect tempo. After that, the men in form Guptill and Pooran put on an outstanding partnership and took the game on. Both batters reached their fifties in commanding fashion and wrapped up the majority of the runchase. Dre-Russ came in to put the final touches as he creamed 3 sixes in one over off Imad Wasim to finish off an epic run-chase. TKR go top of the table after this dominant win and will be looking to stay there and qualify into the top 2 spots.
