The Knights took on St Lucia in their last game of the home leg. TKR were looking to continue their winning momentum and settle the score from the last game against SLK and they did exactly that. This comprehensive win for the Knights not only guaranteed them a spot in the playoffs but also a confirmed berth in the top 2 spots.
The Knights won the toss and chose to field first. The Trinidad leg of this season has been beneficial for the chasing teams, and TKR looked to capitalize on that. The bowlers started off with a great level of accuracy and temperament and did not allow the opposition batters to a flying start. With their lines & lengths they always kept the SLK batters in check. Young Jayden Seales impressed everyone with his pace and accuracy, while the spin duo of Waqar & Narine continued to dominate the middle overs as they have throughout the tournament. The Knights were able to restrict SLK to a total of 167.
In the run-chase, the TKR openers were tested by the opposition bowlers as the new ball had quite a bit of movement and help from the surface. The Knights looked in trouble as they lost both Guptill and Pooran in quick succession. However, Deyal and Tucker stabilized the innings and kept the ideal tempo for the chase. They created a perfect foundation for Dre-Russ to come in and score an explosive innings. Much like last game, Russell came in, bashed the balls to all parts of the ground, wrapped up the game and left. With this commanding win, the Knights guarantee themselves a top 2 finish and will be looking forward to replicating these team performances in the playoffs in order to clinch the trophy this season.
